Well if one does have zero other display options other than 1 small CRT, then yes go for Component. But it will not make your gaming experience become absolutely heavenly going from Composite to Component on a 13' tube. If ya got the space for a bigger set at all, Component is best consumed on a bigger set. And I'm not talking out my ass here - I just moved halfway cross the country and brought only a 14' Toshiba, Component and Composite cable, and PS2. I brought the Composite cable in case i went over friend's house.
After cable swapping the difference was there but not game-breaking on that small set. Ironic you say that, since I gave away my 20AF after discovering Toshiba decided to permanently enable an Edge Enhancement filter on the TV, no matter the input. From NES all the way to PS2, everything was oversharpened and artificial nasty.
The worst tease was, for some reason, when you brought up the on screen menu it disabled the filter and you could see the plain signal in the background (and it looked so good)! Ultimately I just stuck with my 14AF's because they lacked this 'feature'. Sony and Toshiba. What were they thinking??.
